Percy Age 12

Recently I got into the Percy Jackson series and I'm absolutely loving it. Percy's cynicism is just too lovable.

Anyway as you can see, this is a sketch done on a hotel note pad (when you are stuck in a hotel in the middle of fucking nowhere, these notepads are like finding the holy grail). I really liked 's hair design for Percy so I just kind of used that. The first book starts off when the kid is twelve, so I wanted to draw him younger than my typical drawing age.

For those of you who don't know, these books follow a young hero (son of a god and mortal) who goes on excursions and quests. Basically modern time Greek mythology. I love the way Rick Riordan personifies the Greek Gods. His designs are so perfect. Later on I'll be drawing Annabeth (love her too) and Artemis! Probably Aphrodite too (:

Not sure about the second drawing (btw, pose referenced) but I'm pretty pleased with the first one.
